Fundraisers in Fall
With Mini-THON just around the corner, the captains have been hard at work these past couple of months trying to promote their cause. Since the start of school, the WHS Mini-THON captains have been working diligently to raise funds, contact donors, and plan for the big day! In the past few months, we have had fundraisers at Friendly's, Five Guys, and the Manor Golf Club.
Earlier in the season, we had our Gold Out Football game which was an awesome night to promote awareness for Pediatric Cancer. The entire Gurski Stadium (fans included) were decked out in gold to show their support for WHS Mini-THON and Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month. We would like to thank the football team, the student section, the marching band, and all community members that came out to make this event as successful as it was.
Summer Fundraisers
The past summer has been a very fun and exciting one for the 2017 Mini-THON. To kick off the summer, the Captains held a meeting at the beginning of July to start planning for the upcoming year. At this meeting, the captains planned their first canning weekend and their first fundraiser. On July 29th and 30th the captains canned on the Penn Ave intersection by Rita's! The first canning session was so much fun for all of the captains, and it was great to see community members supporting their local Mini-THON. Additionally, the captains also went canning again in August! Although it was very hot, the captains maintained a positive attitude and kept the spirits up.
Overall, summer 2017 was a great way to kick off the school year! Thank you to everyone who was able to donate. As always, For the Kids!

Stall Days Fundraiser
From December 6th to December 22nd Wilson High School students were encouraged to bring in their spare change for Stall Days. The purpose of Stall Days was to hold a school wide fundraiser that was easy for everyone to participate in and to raise money For The Kids. The final day of the fundraiser was our official stall day meaning that teachers needed to count all of the money their homeroom brought in before starting class. Not only did they have the opportunity to stall their class from starting, but the homeroom who raised the most money also go a doughnut party.
Overall, Wilson had tons of success with Stall Days. As a school we raised over $1,500 For The Kids making this our most successful fundraiser of the year. A few homerooms even raised over $100! Congratulations to Mr. Dahms classroom for raising the most money with over $230, and a huge thank you to all of Wilson for using their change to make a huge change For The Kids!

Mini-THON Leadership Summit
On Friday, August 7th 8 current members of Wilson Mini-THON attended the Mini-THON Leadership Summit hosted by Four Diamonds. Not only did current members attend, but the 2015 Mini-THON Overall and Co-Chairs were asked to present information about improving your schools Mini-THON due to our incredible improvements from our first Mini-THON to our second. The Summit is a day full of educational workships that give us inspiration and tips on how to grow and improve our Mini-THON.
The Mini-THON Leadership Summit was an all day event that definitely went by way too fast. We arrived at 8:30 am and grabbed some breakfast, and then dove into some awesome games and activities with all of the other schools! Greg Siers, the day's Keynote Speaker, gave everyone some awesome inspiration to help us improve our self confidence. After Greg's awesome presentation, everyone attended their first breakout session. Most Wilson Mini-THON captains attended different sessions which allowed us to meet other people who loved Mini-THON as much as we do and exchange ideas to improve our event. After the first breakout session, we all met back for lunch and for the Mini-THON rave! Everyone had an awesome time dancing and making new friends before our next two sessions. As the day came to a close, everyone met back for the final events. We all enjoyed some ice cream during the Mini-THON Recognition, which is a time where various awards are presented to Mini-THON's. The closing speaker was Mr.Wagner from The Brittany Wagner Family. The Brittany Wagner Family is a family we hold close to our hearts and we loved getting to hear their beyond inspiring story. Brittany attends Governor Mifflin and is apart of their Mini-THON too. After the Leadership Summit was over, captains went over to chocolate world with some members from Governor Mifflin's Mini-THON, and then grabbed some dinner with them too. Although there is a rivalry between Wilson and Mifflin, we are both partners in the fight and have formed great friendships with their Mini-THON team!
We are so grateful that we had this opportunity to attend this awesome event hosted by Four Diamonds. This day was not only educational but also a blast for all the attendees. Mini-THON captains are so excited to bring back all that we learned and apply it to our Mini-THON this year for another year of success. Thanks to Four Diamonds for this awesome opportunity!

Dunking 4 Diamonds Faculty Basketball Game (January 16, 2015)
On the evening of Friday, January 16, 2015, over 600 students, faculty, and community members gathered in the Wilson High School Gymnasium to watch the Governor Mifflin faculty take on the Wilson faculty in a basketball game For The Kids. This nail-biting game had fans on the edge of their seats all game long, as neither Wilson nor Mifflin held any sort of considerable lead for the entire duration of the game. Although Wilson ultimately pulled it out and won 54-45, both teams had a great time and enjoyed the friendly competition.
The aim of Dunking 4 Diamonds was to raise awareness of the Four Diamonds Fund and educate both the Wilson and Mifflin communities on the power of this incredible organization. To do so, the Wagner family kindly shared their story at halftime, bringing several of the Wilson Mini-THON captains to tears. The Wilson Mini-THON team would like to extend a huge THANK YOU to the Wagner family and to the attendees of Dunking 4 Diamonds for their respect during halftime.
Dunking 4 Diamonds was definitely a success and the Wilson Mini-THON team is thrilled with the outcome. We would like to thank both the Governor Mifflin and Wilson student body's and community members for their support of the event, the Governor Mifflin Mini-THON team for their willingness to work with us on this event, and to all of our Four Diamonds families who attended the event, as you make everything that we do worth it.

Powder Puff Football Game (November 6, 2014)
Wilson Mini-THON teamed up with this year's Powder Puff coaches and players for an awesome night of football! Deemed "The Fog Bowl," the unappealing weather did not keep the fans away. Around 100 spectators came dressed in their warmest clothing to support the girls and the Four Diamonds Fund.
The Mini-THON team is very thankful to have been able to help run this year's Powder Puff game and hopes that the tradition continues in the coming years. Also, special thanks to Connor Hargreaves, our Technology Captain, for taking these awesome photos!

Mini-THON Awareness Weekend (September 19-21, 2014)
Our first annual Wilson Mini-THON Awareness Weekend was a huge success! The Mini-THON team would like to thank the Wilson High School football team for their help with Friday night's Gold Out Game, as well as recognize the outpouring of support from the band, student section, and the Wilson community members who attended the event. Last, but certainly not least, thank you to the Woolridge family for spending the evening with us at the game. We loved having you!
A special thank you is also in order to Coach Vince Pantalone, who gave an incredible speech to the high school students on Friday, September 19. Students were touched by his son Nick's story. Thanks again, Coach!
Finally, thank you to anyone who came and supported Wilson Mini-THON at our Applebee's Fundraiser or our Manor Golf Club "Fore" The Cure Fundraiser. Both events were very successful!
The Mini-THON team hopes to see you at our upcoming events and thanks you for joining with us in the fight against pediatric cancer. #FTK
